The survival
I woke up this early morning and I was still super dark. My parents and my little sister Lily where sleeping in there tiny room, while I sleep in the living room. I guess it was 5 in the morning so I went to do my chores before my parents woke up and took my sister and me to our school. My sister was barley 4 years old and I was 13. I made the couch and then went outside to gather some crops that we had outside. Our family, or more like my dad is a farmer; we have a million of different crops that are too valuable. We had corn, wheat, strawberries, grapes, orange trees, apple trees, and also coffee beans. I gather about 5-6 of each, not all were ready to be eaten. I did some corn bread; with the corn and wheat; I did some jam of grapes for my parents and some strawberry jam for Lily and me. I squeezed the juice from the orange to make orange juice for my parents and also made them some coffee, and for Lily and me I made some apple juice our favorite. For the final touch for the jam and juices some sugar to make them taste good and delicious. My dad then woke up to the smell of breakfast.
“ Good morning,” he said still half asleep, “Mmm, that smells good.”
“ Good Morning and also thanks dad but is not done,” I responded back.
“Well I wish its ready because I’m starving.”
“Yea me too.”
Later I went towards the door and opened to get some fresh air. I then saw that the day was getting brighter, but I saw very dark towards to the south.
“Dad, what time is it???” I asked.
He then took out his very old, dirty, broken watch, “its about to be 7 am, why?”
“Come I will show you,” I said, “Over there I think it’s the south its very black and its very bright over here! Why?”
“Don’t worry dear maybe it’s going to rain, and that we be good for our crops!”
“But that doesn’t look like a rain cloud.”
But then my mom woke up with my sister in her arms because Lily started crying. But I was still convinced that it was not a rain cloud it was something worst than that.
I then served my parents, lily and myself our breakfast before my parents took us to school. When we finished we got dressed up and went to the car and put lily in the car. Then my parents came and drove us to school.
After school I went to pick up Lily from her classroom, there was little kids yelling, screaming and running around like crazy. But Lily was just sitting there on her desk doing work. I always knew she was going to be a good girl. As soon as she saw me she came running towards me and hugged me. I smiled and took her with me outside to wait for our parents.
When we were in the car I watch out the window and saw the cloud, but it wasn’t the same size as I saw it before, it was BIGGER than before, no, it was closer! I was worried but I know was not lying or exaggerating, I knew it was not a rain cloud.
“Dad?”
“Yes dear?” my dad responded.
“I’m worry!”
“Why?”
“I know that the black thing is not a rain cloud is something worst.” I exclaimed.
“Dear just don’t worry everything is going to be fine.”
“Ok I will try.” But I knew something was going to happen and my dad knew something that he wouldn’t tell me or my mother who seem to be too quite today. When we got home the wind got stronger than before.
I heard her whisper something “We have to tell her.” I heard her say. I was worried.
As soon as we got in the house my mom told something that I couldn’t get out of my mind. Some words I will never forget. But I didn’t respond back. She never had told me the last words I was surprise and I did not know what to say. I wanted to say something back I then felt the house shaking and I smelled dirt. My Dad shouted out, “Close the door and the windows!”
Our little tiny fragile wooden house was shaking and shaking, as it was an earthquake. But it was no earthquake; it was the wind that it was strong than it never had been before. I wanted to see what was it. I ran towards the door and I opened it, as soon it was opened the broke door and flew far away. I then saw the sky. It was not bright blue with the sunny sun anymore. It was black, dark, dirty, and of course it smelled like dirt. My eyes got watery and I started coughing. My dad then came running to me so he could rescue me. I then saw a tractor that was going towards our house. I shouted to my dad,
“ DAD LILY AND MUM ARE IN THE HOUSE!!!”
He turned around and saw the tractor and ran to save my mom and lily.
I then saw the whole house had been destroy by the tractor. I was shocked. I didn’t see my family come out before the house disappeared.
“DAD!!!” I shouted.
“MUM!!!!”
“LILY!!!”
I started crying. I was left alone in this storm. I couldn’t stop coughing. It was just worst every minute. Memories of my family and me together came to my mind. I suddenly hear a kid crying.
“Lily???” I said, “LILY!!!” I Shouted.
I then heard the crying closer and closer as I coughed and sob at the same time. I then found Lily crying in someone arms. It was my mom.
“Lily!!”
I grabbed her and hug her so much she also started coughing a lot. I then saw the person who was on the floor was my mom.
I cried out, “MUM, WAKE UP!!!”
She didn’t wake up. I cried and coughed on her shoulder wishing that she would wake up. I remember the last words she told me. “ Well always love you.” And I didn’t say anything back to her. But I had to keep going because Lily couldn’t breath and so I. I took her in my arms and took a long walk remembering everything that had happened, all the sad things, hurtful, and painful things, but I then stop because I couldn’t go anymore. I fell in the floor with Lily in my arms. That’s the last thing I remember of that day. I had woken up in a wooden house similar to my home, also wishing it was a dream and it is my home. I then saw a woman singing a similar lullaby I had heard to Lily.
“Where am I?” I asked her.
She didn’t respond, she keep on singing the lullaby. I then remember it was the same lullaby my parents use to sing me. But I asked her again.
“Where am I???” I asked her again more serious.
She said, “Your new home.”
